Oceans: Where feet may fail

I’ve enjoyed the song “Oceans” since it came out, but I’ve sang it with a bit more gusto (and more off key?)  since a nodule was discovered in my thyroid in April 2015 eventually leading to a diagnosis of Medullary Thyroid Cancer on June 3, 2015. As I prepared for my first-ever surgery that included a thyroidectomy and central neck dissection on June 24, 2015, this song brought incredible peace in God and a renewed commitment to keep my eyes on my Creator as this body that He has created seems to be experiencing new levels of physical brokenness. As I have learned that my rare cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and choosing to share about the brokenness from time to time, I don’t want to lose sight of the One who restores all things to their original design. May all of us, in moments of heartache and uncertainty, worship our loving God who is Emmanuel, God with us. In focusing on Him, and not the fear of the unknown, I hope to walk forward with faith, joy, and a deep sense of peace in how great our God is!

Oceans: Where feet may fail – by Hillsong United

“You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

  • Sharon Fenstermacher - That is a beautiful song and you are a beautiful woman! God is indeed there for you, for us all. Just know God is there to hear your moans and groans, too! God made you as a REAL human being, and can handle whatever you need to express. I’ve already expressed my thoughts about all of this!! But firmly feel God’s presence and convinced you will be okay. Loving you and all your family!ReplyCancel
